“Our clients don’t care about our costs. They care about the value we create for them, so that’s what we should be asking them to pay for.”
This short e-book (it takes about an hour to read) is chock full of simple but powerful points about the benefits of a value-based approach to pricing. Whilst it's essentially setting out the dangers of underselling your services as a freelancer/one-person-business by using time as the basis for pricing (which makes me wish I'd read it when I was just starting out), it also talks about how a different approach can deliver mutual benefits to both you and your clients. There are also plenty of good points which are just as applicable to larger sized businesses that charge for their services based on time spent (ahem). Worth reading not just once, but every six months to remind yourself.
